What to Expect during a CDA Advisor/CCP Field Counselor Visit
This help sheet identifies the expectations of the CDA Advisor/CCP Field Counselor who is providing services to the individual child care provider. After scheduling services with an Educator listed on the Oklahoma Training Approval System, the child care provider should review this list to assist to prepare for the scheduled observations.
Expectations of the Advisor/Counselor:
- Call and confirm services before the day of the scheduled visits
- Arrive and depart on time
- Provide two sessions for a minimum of six hours to observe the candidate’s interactions with the children in the classroom
- Use materials distributed by the national office
- Ask questions during the interview session of the observation
- Observe objectively while not interfering with the program/home’s daily routine
- Review the written observation when completed to ensure its accuracy
- Do not share the results of the observations with the candidate or any staff members of the program/home
- Display enthusiasm during the observation
- Be respectful and considerate to the staff, the children, and the families
- Follow the rules of professional conduct as provided by the national agency and CECPD
- Overall, uphold the integrity of the observation process, while positively representing themselves and CECPD
Expectations of CECPD Staff:
- Be helpful and responsive to questions concerning the Advisor/Counselor’s visit
- Distribute written and/or verbal information via the CECPD website or telephone consultations concerning the CDA Advisor list
- Process payment of the observation services to the Advisor/Counselor once the service is completed

- Give the CDA Advisor the CDA Observation Instrument for completion
