Leadership Academy

The Center for Early Childhood Professional Development (CECPD) is pleased to announce the implementation of Class XXIII (23) of Leadership Academy I to begin June 13-14, 2012.  The purpose of Leadership Academy I is to provide directors/administrators of licensed child care programs with leadership skills necessary to enhance the quality of child care in the state of Oklahoma.  Class topics include:  Communication, team building, ethics, leadership traits/behaviors/characteristics, advocacy, mentoring, coping with change, discipline, and other leadership concerns.

There are a few items you need to consider before completing the enclosed application.  First, to successfully complete this 47-hour Tier II professional development training opportunity, you will be asked to commit to the dates/times scheduled.  Because there are only 25 slots available for Leadership Academy I, it is very important that you fill out the application completely and with great professional care.

Applications will be accepted through May 15, 2012.  All applicants meeting the following requirements will be considered:
a)  You must hold a current Oklahoma Director’s Credential;
b)  Participate in “Reaching for the Stars”;
c)  Strong preference will be given to those centers who serve state subsidy children; and,
d) Centers will be required to have a pre-Program Administration Scale (PAS) assessment prior to the completion of the final session and a post-PAS six months after completing the Leadership Academy I training.

If you are accepted into Leadership Academy I, Class XXIII (23), you will be notified by mail on or before December 5, 2011.  Once accepted, a non-reimbursable, non-transferable $150 fee will be required of all participants to help cover costs associated with the training (lodging for the opening session, all meals and breaks during the 47-hours of training, and all resource materials).  If you are selected to participate, the $150 fee must be received prior to January 15, 2012.  Do not send the fee with your initial application.
