SP4 Building Quality Child Care: Health and Safety
This video focuses on standard health and safety practices in a group child care settings. It reviews procedures for hand-washing, diapering, toileting, food serving and the integration of these practices into the daily curriculum. Based on standards set by the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics, the program is geared to CDA competencies and NAEYC's accreditation criteria. SP5 Sudden Infant Death Syndrome: Update
Although significant advances have been made to combat many forms of cancer and other serious illnesses, doctors remain baffled at the cause of SIDS. This video explores what is known about SIDS at this time and discusses good health practices that can reduce some risk factors. We want children to be safe. Making child care professionals aware of the importance of health, safety and child abuse prevention is the purpose of this informative videotape. The information in this video includes procedures to reduce the incidence of illness, rules regarding sick children, safety precautions and what to do when an accident occurs. SP24 The ABC's of Safe and Healthy Child Care: "Handwashing" and "Diapering"
Providers can reduce the spread of infection by using good hygiene, including proper handwashing and diapering techniques. As part of its multimedia training program, The ABC's of Safe and Healthy Child Care, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has developed these programs to demonstrate procedures for handwashing and diapering that will help prevent the spread of infection.
